In 2020, under the orders of the new Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), NAVSEA was ordered to study a new Mobilization Frigate (MOBFF) that could be built in the coming decade, should the situation require it. Being the modern equivalent to a WW2 Destroyer Escort, the design would be small, cheap, sim...

THE SC-21 COEA PROGRAM By the time the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the USN no longer had to worry about defending trans-Atlantic convoys, bombing Murmansk, or sending the world into a nuclear winter. Peace was finally at hand, and old Cold War tensions and doctrines began to die. With the dawn ...

The Essexs (which were designed in the late 1930s) proved...

Nice work, it's a little on the large side of things :D . 2 questions and 1 comment; 1. What is that flag your flying? 2. What's that gun on the aft and forward sponsoons? Also one thing I noticed, near the aft crane this is a little bar, and it just disappears near the aft VLS block. I'm not sure i...

i would put a 5-inch gun on the bow. How many planes could it carry? I've found information saying 12 x SV-22's and an unknown number of Harriers. Note that the Harriers may be included in the 12 x SV-22 count though. Yes, I did list this in the text, but not everyone wants to read paragraphs of me...

This of course became the “Revolution at Sea” and the ludicrous plans of the COEA studies, but once again there is a v...

Did a little more work after I posted. Nothing major though.

- Used a newer ULQ-6
- Removed the previous SATCOM's and replaced them with an older variant

Thanks for the response guys! As to the cranes, they are really just a place holder. I took them off my other drawing because my ref had a similar structure. Based off another ref I found (although it does seem to be more of an artist’s impression), I also think it would only have 2 screws, so I can...

After I finished BBG-1 Scheme 1, I began work on Scheme 2. While it is definitely not as radical as the first one, it is still pretty out there. Once again the superstructure would be blowtorched down to the hull and rebuilt to house IRBM’s. But here’s the catch, half the machinery would be ripped o...
