little bit more done. Made some changes in the catapult, moved it aft a bit and a single catapult midships. removed the hanger complex. ditched the pole mast added main battery gun directors relocated the prop shafts, and reduced props from 4 to 3 improved the galley http://i65.tinypic.com/2jfepz6.p...

Yeah, it was just an idle thought. I would probably stuck with 6", but there was that "early morning, at work, and not enough coffee yet" idea bouncing around, and thought i would confirm the "yeah, bad idea" aspect of it.

Hmm. Definitely some things to think about. Thanks. The only thing I'd explain further, for thinking on, is that in my doctrine scout cruisers were more along the line of intelligence ships, what the army would call LRRP, long range reconnaissance patrol. Fleet scouting was done by standard cruisers...

Ok, y'know, the more I look at it the more I look at it the less I like that pole mast idea. I believe I'll stick with the tripod mast instead. Also, as my scouts are designed for extended independent operations in unfriendly or hostile waters, I've been considering upgrading them from 4 x 2 6" guns...

Not really that I know of. Just your imagination, a fictional nation, and some realism with your navy. Do you want a small coastal navy or a massive blue water fleet? Modern, postmodern, turn of the past century? Sail, steam, nuclear? Up to you, really. We just provide kibitzing and advise. :)
