5003-Shirase (2009-on) replaced 5002-Shirase (1982-2008), so they were not in service at the same time.

The vertical black lines dividing the portholes on the main superstructure and upper deck promenade deck are presumably hull plating and a lighter shade of dark grey might help them blend in more.
