I messed around with something similar to this idea a couple years ago when I first joined. I never have much time to devote to these things, however...so this is where I finished out with it. It's got a lot of flaws like bad/old parts, etc. This was a single screw variant. http://i1071.photobucket....

Ok - here is revision 1 - I took to heart much of what has been mentioned as follows: - I was not happy with the height of the flight deck, so I raised it several feet. Also extended the hangar itself a few feet since it seemed a bit cramped. - Implemented the "three-wide" hangar and flight deck, no...

I knew I'd left some things out (the other missiles being shown - oops)...I always knew this class had been considered for reactivation, but don't remember seeing that study drawing before. I don't think Freidman's cruisers volume had that. Very interesting. I think the whole below decks hangar conc...

Have not posted here in a long time. What if the US had modernized the Des Moines class CAs instead of (or in addition to) the Iowa BBs? Here is what it might have looked like. I used Midnightnova's Salem drawing that is posted here and modified it as such: - Aft 8" and centerline 5" removed to inst...

I actually like that idea. However won't the rear funnel block the CWI illuminators if I moved them amidships? Depends on how you arrange them, but yes - you won't have a clear line of sight in some arc on either side of both the bow and stern. The other trade-off is you probably can only engage on...

Finally what can I do to create a helicopter pad on top of the Mk 10 Horizontal GMLS? Hello - it has been a couple years since I have logged in here, but I saw your question and thought to reply: Why not consider moving the CWI illuminators for the Terrier system amidships, and create an empty spac...

You know, instead of acting like a bunch of elitists, how about HELPING someone new to this who is eager to contribute? I don't appreciate the condescending attitude I am getting. I DID my homework on this ship, and its measurements are correctly done. The draft and length are correct and measured p...

Here is my current progress since I began yesterday. There is not a heck of a lot of closeup images of these ships, so it's hard to get the really fine detail done well. I am happy with the results. I am not sure to what level of completeness is considered "complete," here, however. http://i1071.pho...

This is my first jump into a larger ship that I am attempting to draw from scratch, as I don't believe it has been tackled here yet. These four destroyers were the follow-up to the abortive Norfolk class DL, and preceded the Forrest Sherman class DDs. They were refitted in the mid 1960s to a DDG con...

Just out of curiosity, if parts/drawings I have used are "outdated," why are they available at all in the ship library / parts library on the shipbucket.com homepage? Shouldn't they be updated with the "up to date" files, so people like me don't make these kinds of mistakes?
