I honestly don't see the mission being applicable for drones. I'm in favour of keeping humans in the loop for maximum mission flexibility, letting your bomber search for targets of opportunity if needed. Basically I'm thinking of the need to carry out something akin to Operation Black Buck, which wo...

Where are you going to operate them Ie do you need stealth, supersonic, etc ? (or do you go for a large drone ?)
Similar to B-52 ops, post Cold War. Primarily stand-off missile platform but able to operate in free-fall bombing role either at low level or where air superiority has been assured.

Hood, I've had the same ideas. Since 27 Squadron operated in the maritime radar recce role, you could potentially bomb em up with underwing Sea Eagles after a late 70s MLU. Slightly different tack, but if you were designing a strategic bomber from scratch today, what would be the starting point? I'm...

Nice one Rowdy, never been a big fan of helicopters in general (there's something disconcerting about an aircraft where the wings move faster than the fuselage) but that is a good-looking bird :)

Got some AU stuff up my sleeve but having to make a few changes after reading an update on the Single Class Surface Combatant project. Might be tempted to do a bit more IRL stuff in the meantime though

Mods made to the Hercs. Love those Beriev's, there's always something really appealing about the old gull-winged flying clog :)

@Caddaric, D'oh, hadn't realised the RCAF only used the J-30  Change is a-coming. As for the CC-130T, this is the layout and designation the RCAF adopted. They don't use the K-prefix for their tankers, but a T-suffix like with the CC-150T. Also, the refuelling pods are Flight Refuelling Ltd Mk...

Love the Hercs :) Been on a bit of a Canadian kick lately (AU stuff coming soon) so here's a few real-life RCAF birds. I've also been thinking of some Vulcan B.2 refit options for the late 70s. Keep the wings but extend the fuselage spine behind the cockpit as on the Phase 6 for more fuel, RB177 Medway turbofans for improved fuel efficiency, reactivate the Skybolt hardpoints for bombs, stand-off nukes, cruise missil...
