I understand that and I totally agree. In fact the need for initial experience is what makes me drawing many different ships now... I guess I have to slow down and revise what I've already done.

I miss the shading of overhangs on this one, and the shape of the torpedo tubes and guns are a bit weird..... those aren't from the parts sheet, are they? No they are not. The railings are pretty generic on this ship but thanks for the advice! Btw is there a standard color for ropework? If no, can you suggest on that? I know what you mean. I tried it a couple of years ago and I also got disappointed. I think the reason is that despite all the very nicely and thematically done things in essence it's still an arcade. That's how it feels to me at least :)
