I used to have a framed print of the profile blueprint of
this ship. She was built in San Francisco by Cramp & Sons.

built for the USN.

The reason I brought this up was that some time ago, someone posted a nice drawing of a USN PT boat that was painted green all over (SW Pacific Camo), and I could barely make out the torpedo tubes. I could not see the guns. Do not forget that small guns look great on a parts sheet, with a white back...

I wish I had the talent and software to create these wonderful illustrations. I do have a problem. The very small warships/boats are so small that the details are almost invisible. For instance, how can I really see the .50 cal. machine guns on a USN PT boat? Has anyone considered using a different ...

The racing yacht America served in the Federal (Union) Navy
during the American Civil War. She was armed with two large

I'm a little confused. I thought that the U.S. Navy was very careful about not duplicating ships' names, especially in wartime, so as to avoid confusion in messages and other communication. The USS Mackinac and the USCG Icebreaker Mackinaw were both in service at the same time, both had the same Nat...

Does anyone know what happened to the 8 inch
gun turrets that were removed from the USS
Lexington and the USS Saratoga? The guns
do not look like the same caliber as those on
USN heavy cruisers.

These are great! A question, though. Would
a Royal Navy ship fly the Jack on the bow and
the Ensign on the mainmast at the same time?
