I've always been a bit unimpressed by battlecruisers historically. As a whole, they were not a very successful type of ship in my opinion. That is not to say they never had combat success, but for ships that attempted to be powerful enough to fight in the battle line they wound up getting their teet...

Contrary to what it might seem like, I am not dead. I've made some improvements to the Auduville based on suggestions here, but first I'd like to introduce a new design of mine belonging to a major power of this universe. In a world with no naval treaties, I assume that designs like Yamato or Montan...

It's an interesting design, but certainly one that would never be accepted in the context of the fictional navy I'm working on. For one, at 44,000 tons standard it wallows at 11k tons less than the 55,000 tons standard originally allotted for the type in the first place. It's too light. Also, it's f...

I just don't see why you are building such a large ship ? - Its massively larger (75 v 47 Kt full load) than a South Dakota 1920 and what does this give you ? Much thicker protection but 2 less guns. - Your protection only makes sense if you intend to be hit by much more powerful weapons than 16" g...

Taking into account the input given here, I decided to switch from a armored box to a single layer full armor deck. I also changed the 23 inch belt, to instead having a 17 inch belt with a 4 inch thick belt behind it to catch spalling and splinters. I increased the height of the torpedo bulkhead to ...

I'm no expert in naval weapons ballistics, so I was hoping there might be people on this forum who are. I design quite a few fictional ships and one in particular has been a favorite project of mine, a little beauty called the Tannhauser class batteships. Built in response to the escalation of naval...

My questiosn from the stats would be, 1- why "Main belt does not fully cover magazines and engineering spaces" by how much etc ? 2- I question 4" belts/2" deck on a 1922 CL and a real CL not a 10,000+ treaty 'CL' thing, would just boxs be cheaper/lighter and accept a slightly more 'tinclad' ships i...

I would be interested in reading your Springsharp if that's ok ? You can put it in using the spoiler tag from above list of tags buttons, just remove * bits and add your info *add details here* To answer both your curiosities about the vessels stats, I'll go ahead and post that, thanks for the tip!...

One of the first things that strikes me is the lack of aerials. Most cruisers of your period were designed as Patrol cruisers to keep the sea lanes safe. If you look at the same types of cruiser for your time period (French Duguay Trouin and the 8" Treaty cruisers) you will see how much was investe...

Hey folks, after managing to get a lot of very thoughtful and constructive feedback from my last thread I've decided I'll keep posting my personal designs so I can keep getting better, and enjoying discussions of the ships. I design ships for the 1900-1950 period of history in a roleplay I participa...
