https://i.imgur.com/dKpR2R0.png This monstrosity actually comes from the US Naval Postgraduate School. It's an 80,000+ ton behemoth designed to replace all current traditional large amphibs. Five are capable of transporting, wihtout any additional LHDs, LPDs, or LSDs, an entire MEF. There are three...

I definitely intend to do that, once I get some of my early semester work under control. If you can find that source I'd love to see it!

The revisit has been revisited! Now that we have good pictures of Zumwalt's upgrades, I could make this: https://i.imgur.com/LDUaWB0.png Her sister ships have not received similar modifications, perhaps they will in the future. In the process of making this, I also changed some details on the 2016 d...

There is a diagram on slide 6 of this presentation , which is what I used for the basic tracing. The mast in particular needed to be eye-balled from there. Some of the sources used include the link at the bottom of the OP. I also used this set of images: https://i.imgur.com/VOn8Hlk.jpg https://i.img...

A while ago I came across sets of plans for the Halifax class frigate, currently the Royal Canadian Navy's only major surface combatant class. The Halifax class are the end result of the Canadian Patrol Frigate Project, which in typical Canadian time took about 20 years from conception in the 1970's...

The Freedom is a beautiful drawing, but there are a few things that should probably be changed before she gets uploaded. Since that drawing has been made there has been a newer and more accurate version of the Mk.110 mount drawn. https://i.imgur.com/8tIPxEl.png The vents and intakes also need revisi...

Apparently I'm being credited with the idea for this challenge, so I figured I should probably submit something. Here's what happens when two allies with developed arms industries decide to make one tank for commonality. The T15 project basically ended up with only the chassis being the same, as the...

The drawing looks great. I'm not an expert on IJN ships, so I can't comment specifically on the quality of the source information. That said, BB1987's information is probably the stuff I would go with. I would like to make one point on the nature of historical research, which Mike seemed to miss. Ag...

For the sailing ships:

Up next, stuns'ls and ringtails, schooner rigs, classic frigates, and maybe a diagram of a sail and it's components.

I'll try to flesh this out with more terms and some visuals to help with sailing ships. Square sails (primary sails run on yardarms parallel to the deck, used for propulsion) Foremast (top to bottom): Fore Topgallant Fore Topsail Foresail/Course Mainmast: Main Topgallant Main Topsail Mainsail Mizzen...
