Rowdy - I love your work on the Halifax. I always hesitate to offer corrections but I am a pedantic bastard and like to see things correct. You have drawn a 466 Squadron RAAF Halifax MZ287 Coded HD-Q. I would offer the following: 1. HD are the squadron code letters and Q is the aircraft. On the star...

Rodondo A small FYI: Attached are two sets of plans for a Imperial Russian Torpedo Boat Sookhum. (Sorry if anglised spelling is incorrect) The plans are from a Russian site which has scans of various magazines. Why am I posting these? Oddly enough Sookhum was a sister ship to HMVS Childers. Cheers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Harold_E._Holt_%28FF-1074%29 ....and he was not an American. He had a US warship named for him because he supported LBJ's stance on the Vietnam war. If you follow the links you'll see we actually lost this bloke in a swimming accident in December 1967. There are as ...

I agree the engines appear to be the weak point of the Collins but that is something that the Navy needs work around and learn from when we build the next class. The rest of the weapon system is world class. General Observation: Australia built these submarines from scratch with no previous experien...

I'm sorry but I have doubts about the identification of the picture as a Collins; That doesn't look like the bow of a Collins class boat. And Rodondo - Why do you think we haven't had a good run with them? Are you giving credence to the political knife-fighting and the media's uniformed ravings? The...

Here's a picture which should answer your questions. You'll notice another Bofors Mk.3 on the quarterdeck and one set of DC racks. It is from the State Library of Victoria, A C Green Collection. Check this out for a higher res picture than I was able to post. Also have a look at pictures of HMAS BAR...

A beautiful drawing. I hesitate to criticise but I have noticed a tendency in some of drawings which include a plan (top) view and single Bofors the artists flip the mounting part drawing from starboard to port. That isn't correct; A Bofors is asymmetric and flipping it is incorrect. You would have ...

Please be careful - The Australian Bathurst Class mine sweepers were not an Australian version of the Bangor Class: A good look at the plans of both classes will show considerable differences between the two. There is an article online which investigates this topic: http://www.navyhistory.org.au/bat...
