I understand and look forward to feedback. The hull color was so dark that I had to compensate for shading, the only other computer safe color being lead (basically flat black). Can you see the paint weathering and inconsistencies on the upper forward hull ok?

I like the coloration of the windows, they give off the look preference of the FA-22. Nice stuff!

then would you please explain to me what exactly the cylinders mounted on the top of the guns are? From my educated guess and film of them firing, I appeared that they were a form of recoil suppression system?

I have been privileged to live close to were she rests now in Mobile Alabama and had a chance to take a g...

I may have to stick with this particular 40mm, the others will not fit. On Drum, her 40mm was custom fit by Mare Island to fit in the would-be 20mm section. This means the mount is significantly shorter than conventional mounts.

This is the detail I have completed on the conning tower. Note that Drum was unique in that her original conning tower was mashed with components off a Balao boat to repair her bridge in 1943.

This is as she looked in 1945.

I would post the pictures I have taken, but the file size is to large to accommodate. What I can say is that the restoration effort on the boat has made some substantial progress, including the replating of the forward torpedo bays and the hole in the stern. Unfortunately the port side is still show...
