but what about the shading on the lower hull? It doesn't look physically correct to my eyes with one tone.

Would this be counted as a better shade job? The Gato's have a well rounded hull which produces large shadow areas.

Thanks all, I will patch up the shading issue. I draw people because it connects you better with the scale of size into realization! Yes, the darker patches are apparently part of the scheme. I based the scheme off a close shot photo of Drum leaving mare island and she had them.

Thank you Erik_t and Thiel. When I build models I do not have to deal with the turret interiors often! Perhaps my use of 20inch quad mount was over ambitious, so I have now bumped down the caliber and removed CIWS. this should work now.
