KonPtol " three Salamis-class battleships,one Lorraine class from France and one Queen Elizabeth class from GB." Five? A lot for Greece. Over what period? Or did Cavvadias mean three battleships? Translation can produce difficulties sometimes.

seeker. I agree modernising Tiger had little chance, but you have your decade wrong.

Remember Tiger was coal fired, and had done much high speed steaming with the battlecruiser force throughout the war.
She would need to be re-engined with oil-firing to be much use, and still had much used 13.5in guns.

The USSR was also concerned about the high rate of fire of the Des Moines class 8in, which is why they wanted to outrange them.

If I remember the discussion on the old Warships Projects site, these ships with 220mm guns were intended to outrange the US 8in cruisers, but were abandoned when it was realised that at the ranges contemplated, the magazines would be empty before enough hits were likely to be scored.

There are detailed line drawings to scale from the Ships' Covers in March's book on British destroyers. The original scale plans vary: 1/16, 1/8,1/4in = 1ft. Sadly for Shipbucket purposes the profiles are all (I think) centreline internal, so no help with hull shading, though there are hull cross se...
