Jabba and Colombamike, I'm going to start work on a 24 tiger (if anybody knows of any other info about it please share anything would be appreciated as I don't have any books to work from) and may do a 30's one as well later. erik_t, I agree (but 32 would still be very scary for any pocket battleshi...

Ok Tiger would make a bigger newer and generally better ship. IJN Kongo 27.54 knots to 30.27 knots (After adding lots of weight/size to make into a full fast battleship). HMS Lion 28Kn to ? 31Kn ish (assuming the same ?), but ( as I don't need to add as much weight for a 2nd class ship and losing a ...

Ok, After the first rejection by HMT, the design staff offer up this cheaper version (just tried to redraw a bit using more of the old ship, to reduce costs). The reasoning for this ship is as follows, 1) a) All the 13.5 ships are likely to be useless v the 15/16inch ships allowed by the treaty (not...

As my comp has gone and lost my G3 stuff for the moment :-(. What if ? What if the RN kept the Lions instead of some useless 13.5 inch BB's (that are not ever going to be useful vs any new 16 inch BB's). Then in the late 1930's rebuilds them as 2nd class Battlecruisers to kill (cruisers/pocket BB) h...

but in my opinion the 4.5" does not have enough stopping power against ships, it may deter a destroyer, but probably not a cruiser. I would want 6" guns back there. granted few battleships ever used their secondaries v surface ships and aircraft turned out to be the main threat My problem is that s...

You are correct about the dual purpose secondaries and I agree with you that the 4.5 is the best RN DP gun, but it was far less effective against surface ships than against aircraft. Since all of your main battery is forward I think it would make sense to have something bigger than a 4.5 back aft. ...

Thanks for the feedback. 1. I think you have an appropriate amount of AA for a 1935 design, I would reduce the amount of superstructure amidships. The superstructure just looks too big to me, especially amidships. Personally I would reduce the entire superstructure by one deck at a minimum. I agree ...
