The flying boat deck, as Heuhen said was to make the most of the deck space. The RN did away with it shortly after commissioning, and boats were stowed on deck.

Regarding concussive effects from the 12"ers, being near the centreline and above, I guess they would be Ok.

Superb! I'm going to check the 1914 boat complement. It may be that you could lack one or two types that I've drawn since posting that parts sheet. If so, I'll make it good by sending them to you!
Anyhoo...at Jutland there were a betting going on among gunnery officers that when the 'Gin Palace' opened up a full 14-gun salvo she'd turn turtle by the effect of the blast and recoil. Instead she proved to be a very steady gun platform with but little roll.
She was an impressive vessel, though wholly unsuited to face other battleships on even terms, due to her thin sides (9" armor).

This is really good work. I never even knew this ship existed - turns out I know next to nothing about the Great War despite my extensive knowledge of the second world war... something I need to fix. ;)
