Hi, I am beginning a new project. I hope to draw the USS California as she was originally built and then her reconstruction.
Where can I find parts, guns cranes etc?

the USN parts sheets should have most of the guns and directors. for all other, you should draw yourself or look at existing drawings, I think.
I wonder, why the california and not the lead ship of the class, tennessee?

Ace,

California was sunk by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and raised and reconstructed. The Tennessee was alsodamaged, but she was not sunk. This being the case, I decided on California. her beam was increased from 97.3 ft to 114 ft. Her casement guns were removed and 5in/38s installed. Radar and gun directors added. Interestingly enough she and Tennessee were among the few US Turbo-electric propelled battleships.

The proper thing to do is to draw the entire class throughout its life. ;)

Didn`t have the time. Now I do, but if David wants to work on it, it could be a good thing for him to hone his skills on.
