Wow you really swung for the fences with that post. Great to see someone take to Shipbucket style that well. Keep it up!

Hi,

thanks again for the comments and the warm welcome!

@DG_Alpha:

I have corrected the drawing of "Scharnhorst" - completely missed the wrong Flak gun. :?
To my knowledege, the crane was "stored" behind the AA-Rangefinder. That´s why I intentionally "cut off" the top part of it. I have changed it nonetheless, as I do think it looks better that way. ;)

I will correct "Graf Spee" as soon as possible and maybe will remove the "second" plane altogether as information about it´s insignia/callsign is hard to come by.

Cheers!
Daniel
If the crane was really stored behind the rangefinder, maybe leave it there, even if it looks a bit strange. Reagrding the airplane markings, a quick search told me that Graf Spee probably carried only one seaplane, but also a massive amount spare parts (Lützow carried two during the invasion of Norway, but she was a bit different).

If you need information (and sometimes very good pictures), I found that http://www.historisches-marinearchiv.de and their forum is always a good place to go.

If you really can't find any information on the aircraft markings, I just put in a blank aircraft (without letters), just to represent the numbers of aircraft carried.

A small request of mine: could you post a compilation of new parts that you drew (weapons, boats, cranes etc.), so that I may add it to the parts sheets?

Great start. My favorite ships. :)
Now for Admiral Graf Spee. The difference in the length (calibers) of the main cannons at the two ships is 2.5 calibers. Which according to the SB standard is about 4.59 ~ 5 pixels. Now is 8. If on the Sharnchorst the cannons is properly, increasest calmly to with 3 pixels the length of Spee cannons.

Hello everbody,

a few answers:

@ bezobrazov:
I won´t mind at all! ;-)
It might take some time, but I am planning to draw "Gneisenau" after finnishing the "Scharnhorst".
Unfortunately, time is precious at the moment...

@ Garlicdesign:
Vielen Dank!
I only found this site by chance, after stumbeling upon your excellent drawings of "SMS Derfflinger"!
Awesome work!

@ DG_Alpha:
Thanks for the advice! The link you provided seems to be very informative - thanks!
I will post the parts ASAP (might take a few days though...)

@ Weisman:
Thank you!
Seems like I screwed up on the dimensions of the C/28...
I will correct the drawings when I get the time.
I have spotted a few faulty dark grey pixels in the midships section of the camouflaged variants anyway.

When looking at the last link you provided, it seems like the aft turret is too close to the "Step" in the hull. Never noticed this before and many other references don´t seem to show this... :-/

In the meantime, I have made some progress on "Scharnhorst".

This is her in November 1939 after her refit - around the time she and her sister "Gneisenau" made a sortie into the North Atlantic, where they sunk the British armed merchant cruiser "HMS Rawalpindi".

Thanks for looking!

Well, good Sir,
It'll be worth the waiting then. Will be looking forward to the Gneisenau.

Looks fantastic. The armorbelt still looks a bit... off, although I have to admit I don't have a better suggestion at the moment.

It seems the duo Joslin/Bonomi used hull of Deutschland and for all three ships of this class. I tend to believe that on Scheer and Spee the decks are longer.

It was a book on the S&G, years ago, that first got me interested in modern warships; so they've always held a bit of a special place in my heart. I'm very happy to see these ships rendered so beautifully... :)
