Transferred to the Soviet Union, Returned to U.S. and transferred on loan to Thailand HTMS Tachin (ex-USS Glendale PF-36) and HTMS Prasae (ex-USS Gallup PF-47) Tacoma class patrol frigates Displacement: 2,415 long tons full load Length: 92.8 m Beam: 11.4 m Draft: 4.17m Propulsion: 2 × 5,500 shp (4,101 kW) turbines, 3 boilers, 2 shafts Speed: 20 knots Complement: 190 Sensors and processing systems: 1 x SA Air Search Radar 1 x QBF Sonar 1 x Mk 51 Gun Director Armament: 3 × 3"/50 caliber guns 2 × 40/60 m Bofors guns 9 × 20mm Oerlikon guns 1 × Hedgehog anti-submarine mortar 4 to 8 × depth charge projectors 2 × depth charge racks -------------------------- HTMS Tachin (PF-1) and HTMS Prasae (PF-2) in 1982 - replace SA air search radar by AN/SPS-10 surface search radar - replace QBF sonar by AN/SQS-17B hull-mounted sonar - add 2 x Mk32 Mod 0 324 mm torpedo single tubes - add 2 x Decca I-band navigation radars HTMS Tachin reclassified PF-411, decommissioned 22 June 2000 and preserved as a memorial at the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (pre-cadet school) at Nakonnayok province (about 150 km. north-east of Bangkok) HTMS Prasae reclassified PF-412, decommissioned 22 June 2000 and preserved as a memorial at Memorial at the mouth of the Prasae river, Rayong province (about 300 km. east of Bangkok) |
