Thank you for your offer, Tempest;

I have been working from the same drawing, from Breyer's Battleships and Battlecruisers 1905-1970, a decent, if slightly dated, reference.

Not too sure where I'll be going with this drawing from here. I might try some hull shading.

Still working on my AU as well, hope to have a new ship posted soon!

Cheers!

Hi Stealthjester!

Breyer is usually good enough, but I find his sketches often too small and lacking in detail. Maybe these help, they are the sources I was planning to draw Neptune from before you beat me to her:

Greetings!

Added some superstructure, turret, and rigging detail from the drawings Garlicdesign posted. Attempted some rudimentary hull shading as well.

Real Design is a challenge, but a welcome one. I will endeavor to improve this drawing and have decided to add Neptune as she appeared after WWI (c. 1917-1918) as well as tackling her near-sisters of the Colossus class. Not sure about schedule, as I will be posting to the War of the Americas AU as well, but as time permits will come back here.

Thanks again to everyone who offered critiques and suggestions, they have been of great help.

Cheers!

as for the hull shading, 2 comments:
- the skeg, under the keel, would most likely be red. so around the propeller shafts it would be shaded dark, but underneath that it becomes unshaded again.
- I would go for an less extreme shade of dark red.

She's really coming along nicely. It's nice to see the drawing evolve, the hull shading really makes a difference. Will you be adding the anti-torpedo net?

All the best

Tempest.

Hi again
I think this at Blueprints is the Burt plan. I can't get it bigger online you have to log on.

Greetings!

After a long period of work, other responsibilities, and health issues - I can finally return to Shipbucket (at least part-time).

I thought I'd take another stab at HMS Neptune before returning to the War of the Americas AU - where I am planning an extensive rework (background history and updated images).

Only minor changes from my last posting - but with some additional detail and improved underwater hull shading.

Comments are as always welcome.

Cheers!

Not certain why image is not displaying like they used to...

Is there a new upload process?

Try replacing the '0' at the end of your link with a '1'. Then it should work.
