Looking even better. Im my eyes its getting close to 9.5 out of 10! Once the Type 910 is fixed as per Erik's suggestion it should be about right. This is one good looking project. |

Alright. I've updated the Sheffield. I fixed (I think and hope!?!) the pixel errors, which weren't obvious but which kindly were pointed out to me. Also, again a few proportional adjustments to make the overall appearance more pleasing. And to Hood goes a BIG thanks for pointing out the erronenous Type 910 (which, btw on this particular ship would not be shipped at all!) I've duly changed the director to the light weight Type 911 and also designed a back of it, so as to retain the symmetry of the vessel. Thanks, also Bombhead for a really supportive role. As you may have noticed I was mischievious enough to add the ship's crest, which also was emblazoned on the flukes of the gas turbine air-intakes. Now, if this can be the final version, I would like to move on to the sisters, including representatives of the Batch 1s. Also upcoming would be both Romanian ships, the Brazilian versions and, last but certainly not least: Sheffield in her new guise as Chilean CNS Almirante Williams! |

Ok, just to prove that I'm actually working on the Batch1s as well, and not just being a bag of hot gas; here's the HMS Brilliant as she looked like in the late 80s, early 90s, shortly before becoming the Brazilian Dodsworth (coming shortly in theatres close to you  ). I've applied the good advice received in doing the Sheffield. Note, however, that she's got the earlier, bulkier Type 910 directors, a lower, smaller hangar and the narrower helipad. Hope you like her! ...and here follows HMS London, named after the deleted County-class destroyer which was sold to Pakistan in 1982. The City of London demanded most vehemently that the Queen name a replacement ship after their city. This tradition of having a ship always named after the Grand Capital, was begun in 1665, after the 70-gun three-decker London, built during the Commonwealth, but now poised to set sail against the Dutch in the opening preliminaries of the Second Dutch War, suddenly blew up, taking with her most of her crew, almost including Vice Admiral Sir John Lawson, a Tarpaulin who had found favor with King Charles II and his naval-minded brother, James, Duke of York, and who was scheduled to embark on her that very same day! The following year, the City of London financed the building of the magnificent 92-gun Loyal London, so named as a token of gratitude from the King for the efforts of the London burghers. However, when the Dutch raided the Medway a year later (1667), that ship was one of the hapless victims. When the King expected the Londoners once more to contribute to their ships rebuilding (in fact a whole new ship), they refused, and so the King in a fury struck the 'Loyal' off the name. Since then, however, there's always been a capital ship named after the Imperial City, though never again with the prefix 'Loyal'. Thanks ya'll! Ok, if MihoshiK who updated the Batch3 will permit me, I'll bring those up to the latest standards, including the recent rebuilding of the Cumberland. As for the Type21, yes, now that's a gorgeous little frigate, ain't she? Yes, I would like, if no one objects, try and update it as well. - And I'm going to continue to post the individual ships in the Batch 2, since they are seriously my favorites! As for the Romanian versions, I think it'd be better if I post them within Alvama's Romanian thread, so as to keep those collected together. As for the Brazilian ones, I might as well create a new thread. And thanks Bombhead for your amazing looking Sea King! I hope you didn't mind me re coloring it and 'converting' it to an RN instead of RM chopper? |
