Good evening:

This is a south american clone of the confederate casemate ironclads of the ACW era, the peruvian ironclad Loa.
[ img ]
Originally it was a steam schooner built in Britain in 1954. With the spanish menace which ended in Chincha Islands War, it was converted into an ironclad by the american engineer George S. Backus in Callao in 1865, with an armour of 3 inch of iron rails. It was a costly conversion, of slightly more of 70,000 sterling pounds. At least, it was part of the peruvian squadron during the battle of Callao en 1866 and (probably) score a hit in the spanish battleship Numancia. It was scuttled in January 1881.
I´m not sure about the word "forro" of the hull, my interpretation of this is an antifouling copper sheating, but I can be perfectly wrong. I will thank any comment that can help me in improving my drawing.
Credits: I owe a lot from the magnificent series of ACV confederate ironclads by Craig. I tried to mimic almost every detail of his previous drawings. Thanks!

Nice ironclad, well done!

And I think that "1954" is a typo, except that scooner managed to travel back in time 100 years!
