Can you enlighten us for the reason this submarine was names SS-19½?
I know that the Lake submarines had wheels for travelling on the sea bed, so I think this one was designed by Lake, but the number?

A very fine start to Part 2 of this series.
SS-19½ is indeed a strange pennant, there must have been some reasoning behind it, presumably trying to re-number existing submarines to the new system and not having enough numbers?
