Austal's proposal for a multi-role vessel on a trimaran hull - in effect a mini LCS:

I've drawn this as it might appear in Australian service, as it often comes up as a possible replacement for the Armidale, Leeuwin, Huon and Paluma Class ships under Project SEA 1180.

Interesting little ship.
Wonder how she looks bow-on.
Wonder if they would be worth the USCG to looking into them for SAR/interdiction work... of course, that could just be the fact that I live across the Bay form an Austal yard talking!

Carthaginian, here is the information I worked off for the drawing which has a front view (and others):

Hm I never thought of the USCG, I might have to see what that looks like too :)

Yeah... that mission bay with four fast interceptor boats would make her a killer at drug interdiction. Integral chopper would be a boon that a lot of USCG ships of similar size don't have, especially in the days of the semi-submersible drug smuggling vessel. A 25mm autocannon is plenty for frightening the crap out of anyone on the water, and could be left off to save a little cash.

And as Austal has a yard here in Mobile, AL... well, that would just be fricking sweet.
It would be a big boost for the economy, and could serve to 'float' the local economy a bit in the face of possible cuts to the LCS and JHSV. I'm getting rather attached to seeing ships coming together through the doors of Austal's Pinto Island yard, and want them to get every bit of business they can grab.
