This should be in the Real Designs forum. Because it happened. Unfortunately when CVA-01 was christened the universe threatened to collapse from the awesome, and a Hard Reset was instigated. The Universe that replaced that earlier version is a much more stable and much less interesting place.

Excellent work Bh. It is a shame she was not built. The drawing itself is commendable. Cheers mate :).

This is perhaps one of the finest "combined operations" I've been involved in and its been a real pleasure to get CVA-01 done and given the proper treatment she deserves.
I agree with Miho that it was a sad day when CVA-01 was cancelled, when the bean-counters and politicans having butchered the RAF (Blue Streak, TSR.2 etc etc) then did the same with the Navy (although doubtless the RAF smiled, the Navy having scuppered TSR.2 the RAF then used the F-111 to scupper CVA-01). Had someone had the balls and sense to make a decent coherent policy maybe things wouldn't be the way they are today.

Me and BH may well do a later take, say May 1982.... 1990 Gulf War...

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Great to see this fascinating unbuilt carrier finally appear on SB, and in grand style too!

Very impressive Bombhead et al. However, I'm not entirely satisfied as to the smoothness of the multifunction radar domes rounded areas. It appears from the attached pictorial evidence that it ought to be pretty seamless; as it is now, there's a sharp, distinct edge where the slope begins.
