very nice alex! only wondering why they left the stern empty and covered the bow, and of course doubtful about some of the mods, especially those sponsoned guns close to where the bridge was, that would require some serious structural strengthening!

What Ace said, and I don't think she'd get armor on her sides.

Agreed with all the points. That said, I'm kinda surprised they didn't at least try to convert the burned-out hulk into a carrier.

Huh? Why spend the time and effort doing that? Though the incompetence of the navy destroyed the Normandie, they were wise not to waste any further efforts on the charred hulk. They already had the Essex program going strongly, together with the CVLs, so there wasn't any need for something, which at best, like Alvama's drawing makes clear would have been nothing but a secondary vessel at best!
Sometimes you guys just don't consider such things as practicality and economy. Even a soaring United States had, in the end, limited resources.

That answers my question of "Why bother?". Still, excellent drawing.

I modified the drawing, and removed armour. I agree on all points, but you know I cannot thoutch that, ot I have to make a AU version. I have drawn it close to the AI render, details may be my own way at some point (looking at real ships, like Bezo said Essex classes) but deck, guns etc are not mine idea. :)

A mamoth project Alex. Well drawn, we all know those newspaper artists of that era had some wacky ideas. The Hybrid Warships book features several of them, those guys must gotten too carried away!
