You have no idea how little I want to say this... but that's not Alsace. She was to have nine guns. It's little known outside French sources, but Darlan rejected this design.
Quote:
40.000tons standard, 45.500tons normal
252 x 35
9x380 in triples 2 fore 1 aft
9x152 in triples 1 fore 2 aft
16x100 in duples amidships
1 catapult on the fantail with 2 aircraft
170.000hp for 31knts
Armour slightly better than Richelieu with 330mm belt and 180mm deck.
No builder's plans were ever issued, but she was also supposed to have the "zenith" 37mm gun capable of firing in a 90-degree upwards cone (but no lower!)

Here is the very basic set of deck layouts we have: the first design was picked in April of 1940, according to French sources. The deciding factor for Admiral Darlan was French building and dock infrastructure.

I know it was planned 3 * 3 * 406 mm. But the French have had difficulties with the development of 406 mm guns. So we decided to set already developed for Rishile tower. Since the main opponents to the French battleships were considered Italians and those not something more powerful 381 mm on the battleships was not.

I'm happy to let SB members use my drawings as a basis for their work, but please credit my work on your drawing. It took six months to get Richelieu's hull correct.

I was under the impression the 16-inch version was rejected because no such gun was under development, it was felt the 15-inch was adequate for the time being.

That aside, I love the drawing. Any chance of getting the nine 15-inch version?
