This is a project made for Rederi by Aker. It was supposed to be ready in 2012 but not yet infos about...

BTW it is a massive IB forseen for multi-years ice thick up to 2 meters. No azipod but protected props with very large shafts.

Here is a very nice presentation on the TransArctica class. The presentation seems to date from February 2011. It would appear that Rederi AB Transatlantic is trying to flog the concept to authorities, and is trying to convince the US Coast Guard to bareboat charter a few of these vessel to fill up the gap until the US finally builds its own new icebreakers.

Nice one :) I guess the Swedish flag colours were part of the sales promotion.

I started from this presentation and I am curious to see what will happen.
BTW I'll do soon the USCG version...

That's just awesome :D I've read on Swedish Ice Fleet - UNOLS! that she is scheduled to 2013. If that happens as planned she will soon could be transferred to real designs ;)

Edit: Hmm! The link doesn't work :? Here is the complete link http://www.google.dk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=% ... bcjwkNR3Hg
