Hello again!

Now presenting two real projects that were being considered by the french in 1914 when three million heavily armed Germans suddenly appeared and changed priorities somewhat.

First, the Lamotte-Picquet-class light cruisers which were already in the early stages of construction when the war began. They were soon broken up, the names being assigned to another cruiser project ten years later.

No final decision had yet been made upon the construction of new battlecruisers; of the three projects under discussion (Gille's design and the Projects A and B by Durand-Viel), only Durand-Viel's Project 'A' seems feasible to me (it also was the basis for my own Magenta-design). Below her appearance as originally planned (as far as one can judge from a single primitive sketch in Breyer's Schlachtschiffe 1905-1970, that being the only reference I was able to obtain).

Excellent work on that ship. Are you going to do the Gille design? If you like I have some line drawings for that.

Hello

Not anytime soon, because I consider that one a lemon (two quad turrets so far aft with virtually no space in between should make her so stern-heavy as to lift lift the bow out of the water and play hell with the ship's structure when fired) and lacking the typically french style.

WOW This and all of your work is extremely impressive can't wait for more
Are you planning on doing any WW2 and Cold War French designs in the future or ships from other nations?

Excellent work, the Lamotte-Piquet is a very interesting design and one I've had an interest in for some time.

Hello again

Two more drawings I found on my archives and beefed up a little; the latter one is 95% Novice's (if you don't like it, Novice, bash me, no problem, I'll remove it)

First, the very stillborn greek battleship project Vasilefs Konstantinos, a 100%-copy of the Provence-class, which probably would have ended up in the french navy somethime around 1920 if it had been actually built:

Second, the - IMHO - most likely final appearance of the Normandie-class in case they had actually been finished
