Here's a photo of a some years later 1972 on HNLMS Drenthe (D816) of the class that would be build based upon Ace's never build ships.
Never had any lack of beer onboard all dutch ships have bars with beertaps, only nowerdays they are filled with non-alcoholic beer (heineken)

done! added in the first post as well.
the benefit of good plans is correct drawings, the drawback is that they take a lot of time to interpret and draw what is there in the plans. luckily, I have even better ones for 1951, the next drawing of this set. after that, the 1954 and then I go to the never build frieslands and the hollands as actually build. hope you all like this drawing, and I will gladly reply to remarks and questions.

btw, Colombamike, would you be so kind to link me the side view of the 1947 plans again, you removed them before I was able to save them on my own pc, I had put the top view on my dropbox but not the side.

EDIT:
based on the original plans, but modified to the specifications before that, the ship as fitted with only 5 bofors 40mm guns and british 4,5in guns.

Very nice work Ace.
It's not a sleek beauty but its very workmanlike, and looks quite good with the 4.5in too.

The design was based on the British wartime expertise, and would use a gastight design of all welded construction. The armament was originally meant to become 2 4,5in twin mounts and 5 40mm guns.

Directly derived from the British "never-were" G class design

(not already draw in shipbucket ? by Hood ?, I find anything)

Although many sketch I have (from studies made by dutch naval-engineers by late 1945-late 1946) show some incredible ways (US guns, german guns, swedish & even French  guns)

if you would be so kind to share those sketches, if you are not going to draw them yourself?
the G class is I think drawn as the gallant class http://www.shipbucket.com/images.php?di ... allant.png . I think the similarity of the 2 designs is because of similar requirements and ancestors, as on first sight they look similar, in detail they certainly do not. for example, the gallant machinery is more aft, defining an different hull shape. this is proven by the fact that it gets an higher speed out of lower power machinery. the arnament is only the same in numbers, not at all in arrangement and weight. the british design was also an ASuW ship more then an ASW ship, proven by the long torpedo tubes.

Very nice always wondered why the Dutch and the British never cooperated more closely on warship design post war.
