Hi everyone,

I was browsing Spring Styles yesterday and came across this little ditty.

Has anyone done this ship? Is there any merit in taking it further along?

Dave

Hi David,

I love your work despite the criticism you got from some members here, please continue and do this one as well ;). I don't know if you have the full collection fo Spring Style drawings (I'm not sure all are still available online). Definitely there are many nice ship designs yet to be drawn and I wouldn't mind having yours next to Shizmo's (which are not bad but IMHO yours are more closer to the SS drawing).

Cheers and keep it up!

IT is already done. So there is NO use for him to do IT.

looks spiffy, though I will say the bases of the cage masts are a bit too wide and the conning tower a bit too tall, otherwise great work.

One of the problems of drawing ships from the Springstyles book is that the superstructure of the ships are not represented there. So you will have to use contemporary ships to find the suitable superstructure. For a battleship designed in 1918, a Colorado/South Dakota-esqe superstructure is the only logical solution. According to my Friedmans US Battleships, this seem to be the case all the way to the early 30s.

I haven't been been on lately, but I never finished incorporating all the changes recommended on my scheme C. Also mine was based more off of CanisD's non shipbucket drawing than off the actual springstyle plan. I probably wont have time to work on it any time soon so I have nothing wrong with you drawing your own version if you still want.

David, why not try one of the alternative designs from that series then? Or any of the Pensacola class CA prelminaries maybe? There are so many designs from this period that are truly nice ;)

Absolutel right. I was thinking along the lines of South Dakota given the modernesque sheer of the bow.

Here's what I have so far.

But as Heuhen pointed out Syzmo has already done it

Sorry Syzmo she's all yours
