Something I always want to ask: Which was your inspiration for naming your AU?

A group of islands where I grew up - many of the names in this AU come from the same area (towns, islands etc.)

I'm pretty skeptical about the prospect of fitting 30 full-length 21" weapons in a hull that size. Los Angeles is getting on 60% bigger, and only carries (IIRC) 37 weapons. Lots of your electronics and such are going to be a fixed size, no matter how big the boat gets; a Collins is nearly as big as you are and only carries 22.

Hmm, I was basing it on the Soryu Class that has roughly the same general dimensions. Would 26 weapons be a more reasonable number?

That seems more reasonable to me. Remember that a SSK is not a very persistent or mobile combatant, and there's not really a need for a huge number of weapons on any given hull.
