I've updated the ships (https://tinyurl.com/osp7rsh) taking all points into consideration. I'm not entirely happy with the sonar fit, but Klag has a good point. Furthermore, they're subhunters first and foremost. The sonar should be one of the top things on the to-upgrade list during a refit.

I like it a lot, but it in my opinion makes more sense to upgrade this ship than the Bridgetown class.

From a pure effectiveness standpoint you're right. But the Bridgetowns were in much greater need of an update, and had a much smaller crew size (important for this AU). I may still change my mind, but I'd like to replace them with CODOG ships that require less crewmen in the late 70s / early 80s.

Fair enough. You could also maybe add to the background something along the lines of that they weren't built to normal military naval standards and had to be replaced early as a result.

have you checked with the belowdeck parts if that Mk 13 fits there? it looks like it doesn't. the deck level heights in the main hull look very low as well.

I just checked. It fits. IF the bottom at that place is square, and even then there is no way in hell those shafts will run past it.

So no, this design is bunk.
