Looks amazing 8-) ,

A few qs

- you say that
Quote:
After loosing the nuclear delivery role in the 1980s to submarines
but don't have any SSBNs ? in the fleet list

- You reuse RN names (and class letters) would this not add confusion ? (such as the subs R,V,U class etc would it not be better to use other latters ?)

- Can we have a large scale map to see where in the world it is ? How from Europe/US ? This will IMO effect the fleet mix you need

I don't have SSBNs but I do have SS(G)Ns. The nuclear role is somewhat controversial both cost and capability wise and is liable to be gone completely by 2020 as cruise missiles with W80s although plenty destructive enough in the grand scheme of things don't offer cost effectiveness.

I do use names that are used by the Royal Navy because they're a documented constant. If you fancy coming up with a couple of hundred ship names for me then by all means do so :P

I know full well what sort of fleet I need as I've been working on this for one hell of a long time. The map you see below is somewhat outdated but gives a general idea of where it is (it's the same as it has been since the Atlantia days, although less massive as now the faroes aren't eaten up...)

Thanks :) Sorry if my questions came across as a noob who has not read your previous works   ;)

I just meant that you could use old RN names so they didn't potentially overlap (such as the U class in 1995 would overlap with the RN Upholder class 90-95 as would others especially if you add design/building phase) If you want names then the RN has had plenty of old WW1/2 Sub classes to use as names.

looking forward to reading more 8-)

No worries, I've been working on this specific AU for nearly nine years now :D

Well I can always change names as required. Especially considering the huge amount of names we've used!

More will come throughout the coming days as I find gaps to type things up.

Any idea how far it may be from the south western point of TG to the US? Just thinking about 'closing the gap'.

What a name! There could well be one if you want it...

As the crow flies Krakatoa it's around 1,310 statute miles to St. Johns, Newfoundland and and around 2,450 to New York.

I was just having a look at the stats for the Sunderland, if you can base some of them in that nice big harbour in the southwest corner, they would only have to travel 655/700 miles, and with a range of 1780 miles they would still have some decent linger time.

Will the BofA even happen, not to poke into your story too much but If TG involved will GB have to escort convoys across the ocean or just to TG and then TG can escort it to the US/CAN? (and 141 DDs + 56 FFs will change the balance just a bit :-))

Also I cant understand how linked they are to GB, (QE as HOS v didn't declare war with the rest of the dominions ?)

1) CAN/AUS style ?
2) ROI style ?
3) other ?

Thanks JSB

To answer the first question, it's doubtful whether it could happen to the full scale that it did OTL. However.. Whilst there would indeed be quite a few ships available to escort ships to and from the US it doesn't necessarily mean that they have ASDIC especially the lighter destroyers which are much more like coastal torpedo boats than full on frigates.
On the long range patrol side of things all we have at the joining of hostilities are Dornier 24s and Aero A.304s which are hardly able to go hunting for U-Boats, the British are still in a position where they lack the Sunderland for some time, although the Catalina would serve to alleviate some of the problems. Either way it's going to be some time before anything can be done to stem the tide of losses incurred.

As for joining the war in the first place it would be done much the same as Canada in a way to show that the act was not partaken at the immediate behest of the UK. Mobilisation would be a reasonably slow process due to the massive rearmament program. Decleration would come in 1940 as noted elsewhere but it'd probably be mid 1941 before any notable amounts of men and equipment are available for use.
