Very nice.
I'll have to check but I think there might be provision for the strike-length Mk41 built into the Type 45. There was talk of adding an 8-cell ahead of the Aster VLS in the RN ships but of course its never likely to happen.

Interesting, I'd always read between twelve and sixteen cells between the SYLVERs, plus given that we keep looking at BMD for them, SM-3 is still a possibility at some point...

You're correct Blackbuck, it was two eight-cell Mk 41s.
I've been mystified where they would fit given the forecastle isn't that spacious. Two Sylver A-70 could be used instead.

RIVER (III) CLASS TANKER

As the Royal Westralian Navy's existing River (II) Class replenishment tankers began to age in the mid-2000's, the RWN instigated plans for a replacement. However this was subsequently deferred until the mid-2010's, at which point the NWS shipyard was already occupied with the upgrades to the Broome-class frigates. As a result, the new design of tankers was to be built by a private company experienced in the construction of tankers for the oil and gas industry, Campbell Maritime Services in Esperance. Construction began in late 2016, with the first vessel, Swan River, due for commissioning in early-2019; and the second, Margaret River, to follow shortly after.

Technical input for the design had been provided by Rolls-Royce, leading to the implementation of a LEADGE bow very similar to that incorporated in RR's Enviroship design. The double-hull is ice-strengthened to allow the vessels some limited sub-antarctic capability, necessary to aid in patrolling the Southern Ocean, though the ships will more regularly operate in warmer climates.

Indeed intresting looking tanker, and great drawing alltogether.

I like it, nice sleek lines and a good looking tanker.

I dig it! A few things I'd think about altering...
  • The overhang above the lifeboat is unshaded.
  • I'd probably add a structural support to the back of this overhang.
  • I'd think about moving the forward X-band nav radar to the small mast at the bow, and elevating the S-band nav radar to the freed up position. Right now, the S-band radar is looking through a forest of refueling equipment.

ZUYTDORP CLASS MULTI-ROLE VESSEL

Named for notable historic ships wrecked on the Westralian coast, the Zuytdorp class perform hydrographic survey and limited mine-countermeasures duties in the Royal Westralian Navy, and form the core of Auxiliary Group. The extended range and limited ice-strengthening they offer over the ships of Patrol Force has seen the class occasionally sent on fisheries/anti-whaling patrols in the Southern Ocean.
