Valentine class heavy frigate The Valentine class frigates were designed as a cheap and quick to produce destroyer to make up for numbers required to escort fleets in the Scyllic, though this did not stop some units from serving in hunter-killer ASW squads in the Freyatic. They were armed with two twin 127mm/45 DP mounts and several AA emplacements, along with an assortment of ASW weaponry including a forward mounted hedgehog launcher. On average the Valentine class clocked in at a maximum speed of 25 knots, on the very rare occasion it was required, some members were able to strain their engines to go over 30 knots. Cora class heavy frigate Designed after the entrance of Antara into WW in 1342 and first launched in early 1344, the Cora class 'heavy' frigates were designed to escort slow carrier fleets in the Scyllic. They were very well armed for frigates, possessing two twin 5"/45s and a triple 610mm torpedo launcher, but still rather slow at 25 knots. As the navy still had a shortage of carriers, especially the slow escort/light carriers they were designed to support, some where assigned to the Freyatic fleet, which was in desperate need for submarine hunters in the early stages of the war. The Cora class, as well as the preceding Valentine class, were designated as 'heavy' frigates due to the weight of their armament and expected foes. At the time, the Antarans believed the Osorans a bigger threat (and they did), and theorized the possibility of facing the Imperial Navy's large destroyer force. While not a match against ION destroyers in speed, size and torpedo armament, the Cora's possessed superior firepower controlled by effective directors (this class was the only frigate to mount the standard DP 5" fire director, the same mounted on regular destroyers, cruisers and other capital ships). Although no members of the class actually sank any major surface warships, a few were responsible for a few submarine sinkings, assistance with shore bombardment, AA support, and on two occasions they engaged a destroyer and a cruiser. SpringSharp report - https://pastebin.com/LNS0zzc3 Displacement = 1203 tonnes standard Speed - 25 knots Range - 8000nm at 14 knots Armament - 2x2 127mm/45 3x1 610mm torpedoes 25mm and 38mm AA mounts Ships in class Cora - scrapped, 1363 Patterson - sold to Forzetta, 1370 Kallie - scrapped, 1966 Kiros - sold to Heryu, 1351 Alessio - sold to Osora, 1352 Lucilla - sold to Forzetta, 1351 Howers - scrapped, 1370 Benibara - sold to Forzetta, 1351 Jona - scrapped, 1362 Sarah - sunk in surface action, 1344 Felice - scrapped, 1372 Ribera - sold to Heryu, 1351 Hartwin - sold to Heryu, 1351 Solem - scrapped, 1368 Juliano - scrapped, 1367 Hisashi - sold to Osora, 1354 Halliway - sold to Heryu, 1351 Maywood - scrapped, 1369 Haffner - torpedoed, 1343 Johnson - sold to Heryu, 1371 Michaels - sunk in surface action, 1346 |

Princeton class light cruiser The Princetons were a ship class of light cruisers built in the early 1320s. The class was conceived before the Evinheim Naval Treaty came into effect, and was designed on the basis of a Great War style scout cruiser. She was poorly armoured, moderately armed, but fast for her era. As built, Princeton had 150mm mounts originally used on older armoured cruisers, though by 1328, both ships had been rebuilt with more up to standard mounts. These new guns boasted a quick 8 rounds per minute firerate and a higher angle of fire for better range. Despite these upgrades, they were still greatly outclassed by the World War, and consequently both vessels served in an auxillary/escort role during the war, much like the previous Maizono class. Princeton and Colonet were assigned to the Freyatic Fleet for most of the war. After its conclusion, they were scrapped or sunk for gunnery trials. Specifications Displacement - 6800 tonnes standard Speed - 33.2 knots Princeton Range - 10 000 nm at 14 knots Armour belt - 76mm Main armament - 4x2 150mm/50 as built - 4x2 155mm/60 post 1330 Secondary armament - 6x1 130mm/45 post 1330 Torpedoes - 2xIV 530mm as built Ships in class Princeton - Scrapped, 1349 Colonet - Sunk in gunnery trials, 1352 |
