The Republic of Viridisia (Viridisian: Republicca Viridisiana) is an independent island nation in the Mediterranean. It is surrounded to the North by the Ionian Sea, while Malta is located on its west, and the Italian island of Sicily in the northwest. The official language is Viridisian, a Romance language with deep connection with the Latin and Italian languages. The capital and largest city is Urben.

History

Viridisia has a long history and was inhabited as early as 5000 BC. The first inhabitants were farmers. Viridisia's prehistory ends in around 700 BC, when the islands were colonized by the Phoenicians. They ruled the islands until the Romans captured it in 216 BC, which named it "Viridisia", from the Latin "viridis" which means "green". The islands were then acquired by the Eastern Roman Empire or the Byzantines. Despite of an attempt by the Aghlabids to besiege the islands, the Viridisians resisted and established an independent kingdom in 871 AD. The Asciane dynasty ruled the islands until it was captured by the Kingdom of Sicily in 1094.

The Ottomans, which were expanding their territories in Europe, captured the Viridisian islands after a bitter siege in 1562. However, the Ottoman occupation was short-lived, which were repulsed from the islands after their defeat in the Siege of Malta in 1565. Blaming their Sicilian superiors, the Viridisian nobles again staged a revolt and established an independent kingdom in 1571. This independent Viridisian kingdom would be a long lasting one, enduring wars and conflicts with her neighbors.

During World War 1, Viridisia proclaimed neutrality. Despite of attempts to be neutral in World War 2, the islands were forcibly annexed by the Italians. Viridisia was liberated in 1944, and blaming the monarchy of collaboration with the Italians, the monarchy was abolished and a republic was established. It then joined NATO.

As for the ships, here is the first.

Historical Background
The Viridisian Navy realized the need to update it's surface force in the 1970s, which was composed of two (2) ex-Royal Navy River class frigates, four (4) ex-Royal Navy Algerine class minesweepers converted into corvettes, as well as smaller assets suited for coastal patrol and interdiction. This was because of the expansion of Soviet forces in the Mediterranean, which in the Navy's current state, can't adequately combat these new threats.

The Italians offered to sell three corvettes to Viridisia, with an option of the third unit to be built locally, this was already in advanced negotiations when the newly elected Curio government in 1978 cancelled the talks, opting the ships to be locally designed and built. This was part of his government's efforts to revitalize the country's local enterprises by promoting local industries. The initial corvette was launched in 1984, and the third and final unit entered service in 1987.

The Urben class of corvettes provided the necessary upgrade in Viridisian naval forces. They would be the core of the Navy's surface force till now, and would be replaced by a new class of corvettes soon.

Quite compact and well balanced corvette! I like it!
I have only one suggestion - You can swap Aspide SAM with Fast-Forty. Launcher didn't have below deck space, while Fast-Forty has. In this configuration You will have a problem with the hangar height.
Best Regards!
