As an Aussie who lived in northern Europe & Scandinavia for a few years, I love the concept behind this one & the drawings look fantastic.

I like the ARD-4.

But why is everything written in English? Instead of the local language?

Disrupt class FFG, 14 units in class

The Fryssian navy searched for a new FFG class to be build to replace old 60's Frigates.
Germany sought new units during the same time aswell.
They both ended up with the Benelux Navies Kortenaer Class.
The Bremen and Disrupt class are both an evolution of the Kortenaer Class. However the Bremen class uses a different setup for COGAG.

A total of 14 units are build and commisioned into the Fryssian navy of 1982 till 1990.
The German navy acquired 4 units for their navy as Bremen Class.
The Benelux navy has 14 units of the Kortenaer Class and sold 2 seperate units to the Greek navy as the Elli class.
Thats makes a whopping 34 units out of one Class in Europe.

At the end of the Cold War the government started to reduce their defence budget.
The MOD decided to cut the navies S frigate class from 14->10.
In 1994 till 1996 four units where sold to the Greek navy, they where transfered as they where.

The remaining 10 units got an MLU in 2000-2005 era.
The MOD already selected a new class to replace the S frigate class from 2003 on.
However because of budget cuts not all units will be replaced 1 on 1.
Only 6 units where selected to be replaced by the new class and 4 of the remaining ships where to be sold.

In 2003 and 2005 two units where sold to the Chilian navy, they where upgraded to MLU spec before transfer.
In 2006 and 2008 another two units where sold to the Chilian navy, both already had their MLU finished.

The remaining 6 units didnt stay long in the fleet though, the financial crisis in Europe hit Fryssia in 2006 and they where forced to cut in Def budgets.
In 2007 and 2008 defence budget papers it was stated that 6 frigates had to be disposed off.

In 2007 and 2009 two units where send to the reserve fleet after their replacements joined the fleet.
The remaining 4 where to join the reserve fleet or where to be sold.
However the MOD selected 4 Multipurpose frigates to be sold or send to Reserve.

This meant that the last 4 units where pushed back till 2020-2025 decommisioning and had to endure a last upgrade.
This gave them a more modern CMS and ESSM and sensors.
This upgrade was given between 2010-2013.

The remaining 4 units are to be replaced by two new Multipurpose Frigates between 2025-2030.

Very sexy looking ships, nice job.

What are the main differences between the original ships and the later 'block 2' ships?

The last four ships, you say the MoD had to make a choice to either sell them off or send them to the reserve fleet.
They weren't sold, so to reserve they went? But still they got a hefty upgrade as you say with more modern CMS and ESSM and sensors?

Are you doing upgraded versions of the ships, as well those sold off to foreign navies? :D

Just on a side note, what happend to the Benelux frigates at the end of their careers?

The 4 remaining units stay in the fleet.
They will get an good upgrade before they head out to the reserve fleet aswell when their replacements are there.
Benelux keeps a handfull of S frigates till 2022, the rest are sold or scrapped.
4 units go to Greece at first.
6 units to Indonesia as a replacement for the MLM.
4 units scrapped.

Upgrades are incoming, and sale units aswell.

The block 2 is just the build units with the upgrade applied during build.
Boats->rhibs was basicly an evolution, same with more modern shf satcom and better airintakes etc.
