 Has anyone seen my jaw? I'm sure it was attached to my head before I looked in this thread...

Seriously, that is a damned fine looking vessel, Heuhen. You may have reservations with the superstructure, but I'm loving those tower masts...

I suddenly remember that I had drawn an 15" quad for some time ago... Oh just to be nasty, here sister ship is not receiving the 15" quad but 17,1" triple (original designed for coastal fort, redesigned for Naval use)

I have also updated the tower, and have started to draw the basic looks of it, on the top down view.

the top view, and most off the side view is updated above, see the awesomeness. comment and kill the ship...

at the moment, armament:

3 X quad 15" guns
5 X twin 5"
28 X single 40 mm (space for twins)
50 X single 20 mm (space for twins)

other things that have been done:
- made the forward funnel larger.
- new superstructure. (France style)
- New quad turrets.

what left:
- 5-8 more 40 mm.
- random details.

Personally I'd delete the 2nd and 4th secondary gun director (counting from the bow or the stern makes no difference) on either side of the superstructure. you'd still end with six of them (three on each side) directing 10 5-inch guns (more than an USN ship, which usually directed 10 with 4 of them). This, other than increasing the firing arc of #2 5-inch gun (counting fromt he bow) which is currently blocked by it's own director when firing around 70° up, might give you a bit of usable space for some of the extra 40mm guns you want to add.

That's not a triple shaft configuration Mike, I'm pretty sure it is a four-screw setup with skegs protecting the two inner shafts, Like it was actually done on the North Carolina and Iowa classes.

Thank's Colombamike.

I write what I was thinking, and changes I will do:

- For the shafts. as BB1987 stated and as I said earlier in one of my post, I have the same shaft setup as the Iowa class.
- As I stated earlier, This ship have Quad turrets, but after testing of the Quad turrets, Haram decided to mount triple 17.2" guns from existing guns in Haram arsenal. But we can also say that she was equipped with treaty quad guns (less weight for the number of barrels) due to the 17.2" guns wasn't ready.
- I can move the aft funnel, director structure more aft. this changes boiler and engine room layout to (from aft to Forward): BR/ER/BR/ER/BR/BR/ER/small-BR
- reducing secondary directors to 6.
- reducing 40 mm directors and adding more 40 mm guns.
- I will try to lower 5" gun deck, to main deck. and see how it works.
- Length of ship: well she is only 1.5 meters longer than Iowa, and haw a bigger machinery. I think the reason she looks bigger is because, the superstructure is much smaller/thinner than what Iowa or Yamato have.

does that answer some of the questions?

It's your ship, you do what you want
(I just give some comments/critics for the ship to be Realistic, and give to you some idea's)

After that, your ship must obviously need to "scope" with your AU.
The biggest difficulty is to link your AU ship with the real-life "technical-reality".
Otherwise, AU ships have no sense (and go toward unworkable/unrealistic ships design)
But this is only my opinion...

Change some of the layout, just to see how it would work. And I think I might go with this solution, it's probably as good as I can get it without putting the second main director in a totally weird place... like under the hull!

I have more to do, fixing errors, and those suggestion Colombamike come with. BTW. Colombamike, do you think this layout would work better. now I have a nice place for some 20mm's around the aft director.

Sister ship with here modified triple 17.4" turret mounted on the quad turret barbette and turret ring, giving many stability problems that wasn't solved before early 50's
