Union of Columbian Communes, Angelshark Class
The SSN sibling to my Boomer Challenge entry, the
Angelshark Class was designed and built alongside the
Alexander Polnareff Class SSBNs in the late 1950s and early 1960s. A full class of 10 boats was constructed and served through the mid-1990s. The
Angelsharks utilized many of the same components as the
Alexander Polnareffs in order to reduce cost and development time, including the sail (basically a 1:1 copy), sonar and sonar arrangement, reactor, machinery plant, and screw.
