I'd promised Odysseus1980 to make a badge for his AU with the Theban Sphinx (the maneating sphinx from Oedipus). I didn't thought it would be a problem. It was! I didn't considered any of the pictures I found good enough to use as basic to a stylized sphinx. Inspired by this photo [ img ] I had decided to made my own primare original :geek:
It was beyond my imagination what effort that decission cost! But as well as we all like good blue prints and sharp photos for our ships, we want to draw for the best possible drawing, I want to made a perfect looking mythical sphinx. I didn't realise that it demands more time - in fact twice the time - than I used to do USS Sacramento!
So before I make the sphinx for the badge for Odysseus, I would like you to see what I end up with, so not only me and my family can enjoy what I think is a rather nice gold alike creature :D (BTW she is made in ordinary Paint!)

Amazing, simply amazing, man! Ever considered an exhibition? It's of such awesome quality...
Seeing this I'm almost tempted to ask you to design badges for my AU ships! 8-) ;)

At least I know you wouldn't fail...

Thank you mates. :D With the right "model" it takes no time to create a good looking shield. It's a bit of shame that this badge isn't for a real ship, but I'll hope Odysseus give it to a astonish AU vessel. Because I don't know which name she wiil receive, he must write the name in the top of the shield self ;)

Quote:
In Greek mythology, the Sphinx sat outside of Thebes and asked this riddle of all travelers who passed by. If the traveler failed to solve the riddle, then the Sphinx killed him/her. And if the traveler answered the riddle correctly, then the Sphinx would destroy herself. The riddle:

What goes on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening?

Oedipus solved the riddle, and the Sphinx destroyed herself.
