Decided to cook up a few fictional American capital ships for your enjoyment.

Iowa class battleship. Heavily influenced by the Rividiera class. It`s sort off "americanized" version of the Rividiera.
Armed with 8x14"/45 guns, and 20 5"/51 guns.

Massachusetts class.
An American ship based on another battleship (you guess which, the answer might surprise you.) It is armed with 8x16"/45 guns and 16 5"/51 guns.
[ img ]

Oregon class. Think of it as the New York version of the Nevada class. Armed with 10 14"/45 guns in five twin turrets in the same configuration as the New York. Secondaries are 24x5"/51 guns.
[ img ]

You already know the Bradywine class battlecruiser. Based on the specifications for a 1908 battecruiser study, using an enlargened Wyoming class hull as a base. Armed with 8x12"/50, and 24X5"/51 guns.

The battlecruiser equivelant of the New York/Nevada lineage. The Valley Forge class is armed with 12x14"/45 guns, and 24 5"/51 guns. The hull is a very stretched hull of the New York in the style of the Nevada class.

If you have any ideas for a design, then propose it to me, and I`ll make it.

The Massachusetts class looks like she is based on the Queen Elizabeth class.

I originally had them like that, but people were complaining about it not being visible enough. It should`t really be necessary to have it at all as it doesn`t show when seen in profile.

Not realistic with the 15" gun armament, though a beautiful concept. The US was already developing the 16" as a natural enlargement of the 14" gun.
Heuhen, you are thinking somewhat like me, though I'd darken the lower surface of the rounded area to create a natural "bent" contrast. Since you're already doing that, why not try that suggestion?

A very interesting set of AU US capital ships. They all look pretty good and there are some good ideas there.

Here`s the 1941 version of the Massachusetts class. I have swapped the 15 inchers for double 16 inchers. The refit of 1927 removes all the hull mounted casemates, and relocates 12 of them to the superstructure. The lattice masts have been replaced with tripods. 12 76mm AA guns and 12 50 cals provide AA cover. The ship has been refitted to be almost identical to the Nevada, superstructure-wise. The stern was lengthened by 10 meters to accamodate the crane and catapult aft.

I shall do the appearences of the years in between later.
