ah, there are harpoons on board so she has that
brown water is not the limitation, it is the operation area it is designed for. the PG's are not oceangoing, no, but they are certainly seagoing.
btw fox, let's keep the discussion now to the vessels I posted
I have an quite large AU work in progress behind the scenes, and the fleet production plan is set quite a bit, but I opened this thread out of the AU section for the sake of improving invidual designs before I have the entire AU ready
JSB, all the gun mountings themselves are remote control, only the mechanism below requires crew. the numbers are not as extreme as on the earlier audace class, the ship is yet unfinished but I am thinking between 170 and 230 crew for the cruiser. as is noted in the first post, the PG has 25 crew. also, there will be only a maximum of 8 FAC PG's build, so that is 8*25 = 200 crew. 2 cruisers, that is say, 400 crew. for that I could man 3-4 frigates.
in a war situation the FAC and cruiser operate together, however in peacetimes the FAC's are defence and the cruisers can do the 'showing the flag' duties etc the FAC's are not suitable for due to their small size. the small size makes them easier to keep in operation and cheaper to operate for that reason. due to this, and the fact that 3 ships can not cover the same amount of sea when required, this fleet is not equal at all to 3 frigates in operation. note also that the 2 larger cruisers can due to their large size operate easier in the ocean conditions the FAC's can go into.
I would not call the cruisers CG btw
their missile arnament is not sufficient for that, CL is the best they can do haha
