Germanys first true Battlecruisers were the Von Der Tann class ships.

These ships were the follow ons from the Manteuffel type armoured cruiser with its superfiring turrets. Much larger than the Manteuffel, the ships were over 620 feet and were a size with the British Indefatigable class, with better armour and speed.

For this scenario I build four of these ships, Von der Tann, Anhalt-Dessau, Moltke and Goeben, to this design. The next class then becomes the Seydlitz, Derfflinger, Lutzow, Hindenburg, all in the Derfflinger layout with 8x12" replacing the 8x11" of this class.

Displacement: 22,500 tons normal, 26,250 tons full load
Dimensions: 622 x 90 x 29 feet
Machinery: 4 shaft, turbines, 84,000shp
Speed: 28 knots
Endurance: 8,000 nmi at 12 knots
Armour: 11" belt, 2" deck, 9.4"/4.1"/3.4" turrets
Armament:
8 x 11" (4x2)
10 x 5.9" (10x1)
16 x 3.4" (16x1)
Torpedoes: 4 x 19.7" (4x1 submerged)
Crew: 1,120

Note for GD.
When I was doing the aft end changes I noted that the barrel length of the aft turret was quite a bit longer than the fore turret and the turrets I copied off the 6.3 sheet for the superfiring mounts.

Interesting design, He looks better IMHO, I'm not sure if you'd be interested, there is a design of Seydlitz that had bow superfiring turrets and the forecastle had been reduced to battery deck level. Maybe you could draw a version of von Der Tan with that? The drawing name (in English) is Large Cruiser Scheme IVe (7 Dec 09). I have it in a book in case you're interested. Scheme III c was to be armed with eight 30.5cm guns in four turrets in the same layout as Moltke.

As in usually the case the design of a ship was limited to cost, I think it is especially so in Germany's case.

Thanks Tempest, I would be very happy to see the different plans for the German cruisers.
