I was under the impression that the SPY-2 was the volume search radar, while the SPY-3 (based off of the Lockheed High Power Discriminator) was the targeting/ illumination radar.
SPY-2 is the dedicated ABM radar, and IIRC uses TPY-2 like parts.

SPY-5 seems to be a pretty low-capability system in the vein of the ubiquitous WM20-series 'egg', short-range search and single-target illumination in X-band. Last I recall.

If this is for an AU (which it is in my case), would the size as far as area dimensions of the SPY-3 be as strictly governed? |
