First of all ... you "build" something and then you start wondering what is it ? You must be joking! Or you are a rly bad troll.

He's not trolling. Thats kinda rude. I recommended he come here because from conversations with him he appears to truly be interested in learning. He is also willing to listen to advise, and takes it seriously, so how about we give him a chance instead of just dismissing out of hand, m'kay?

If he helps you with that "ship" ... no wonder he WAS in the navy.

I was Army. My parents were Navy. I just study ships. And what he has posted here are his first attempts. I have been giving suggestions, such as this...

Now I know I am just "one of those AU guys" here, but I do, on ocassion, have a decent clue ...

I agree with HueHen and Ace. It would probably be best to scrap this one and start over than to rework this one, just keep in mind what I said on page 1, purpose of vessel, era, systems, take inspiration from similar vessels, then start drawing.
BTW, don't take any advice from people on NS, some of them can be reliable, but those people are very few and far between. If you want to make plausible, credible desings, you are in the right place at SB.

Yeah, that would be ME.

After 3 pages of posts we know that he is not a troll. His first and second post showing features of possible troll, and I was not even close to starting being rude. ;)
I assume that his source from NS give him suggestions about his first attempt, in that case that would be punish with ... flame. But If that source was you Zep' there is hope. :D

  1. DSR, welcome aboard. I apologize for the snark in my first post in this thread. I need to stop posting at 0200. <Smacks self on head>
  2. Raxar, stop painting with such a broad brush.

Don't take this the wrong way but it makes sense.

Here, I'm gonna try something different:

Are you good at sketches? Do you have a sketchpad for your computer or at least a scanner?

I'd like to see how well you can sketch a FRAM II Gearing class destroyer by hand (which is conceptually similar to what you seem to be doing). The idea is that it'll teach you what kind of systems are found on a ship.
