D-class cruiser (Improved Diesel-powered M-class)
Danzig

[ img ]

Displacement: 11.500t full
Length: 169.3 m (OA), 163 m (Waterline)
Beam: 20.6 m (Bulges)
Draft: 5.2 m

Armament:
4x3 DP 15 cm/48 Tbts KC/36T
4x2 DP 10.5 cm/65 SK C/33
8x2 Flak 3.7 cm/69 M42 Zwiling
11x4 Flak 2 cm/65 C/38 Vierling
10x2 Flak 2 cm/65 C/38 Zwiling
2x4 53.3 cm torpedo tubes

Armor:
100 mm belt over machinery
80 mm belt over magazine and turret
60 mm deck
100 mm conning tower

Speed: 31 knots

A fat, yet short cruiser designed with long-range commerce raiding and fleet scout-escort duties in mind. Armed with dual-purpose 15 cm/48 Tbts KC/36T on a new turret mounting along with unholy amount of anti-aircraft guns, she acts as cover for the Z-plan battleships during fleet action. However, as she utilized full diesel propulsion, she was noticeably shorter and thus allowing for substantial reinforcement in her protection scheme while shedding away angled armored deck found on previous classes. Her drawback is relatively slow speed and very wet forward.

Feedback is wholly appreciated!

Very nicely done! I could see her being well-used in places like the Southern Atlantic or the Indian Ocean.
