Hi all!
Posting my first completed project here. For a start, I've chosen a destroyer, because I think it can offer a good balance between a number of details to show and a simplicity of an overall design, to not be too much of a burden for a starting artist. A ship in question is HMCS Haida, legendary Canadian Tribal-class DD, which had a very long an distiguished service record, serving with gallantry both in WW2 and Korean War. It is currently preserved as a museum ship. Another reason why I chose this ship, is because during WW2, it served in 10th Destroyer Flotilla alongside ORP Błyskawica, famous Polish warship also preserved as a museum in Gdynia, Poland, my country :)
Here's couple of facts about Haida:

In service : 1943-1963

Displacement : 1959 long tons standard
2519 long tons at deep load

Dimensions : length 377 ft (115m)
beam 37 ft 6 in (11.4m)
draught 13 ft (4m)

Propulsion
: 2 shafts; 3xAdmiralty 3-drum boilers
2x Parsons geared steam turbines
Max power 44000 shp

Maximum speed : 36.5 knots (67.6 km/h)

Complement : 14 officers & 259 ratings

Armament : 3xII 4.7in/45 Mk. XII gun
1xII 4in/45 Mk. 16 gun
1xIV 2pdr 'pom-pom' AA gun
6xII 20mm Oerlikon AA gun
1 quad Mk. IX 21in torpedo launcher
Mk. VII depth charges

Electronics : Type 144 sonar
Mk. III fire control director with Type 285 fire control radar
Type 268 navigation radar
Type 271 sea-surface search radar
Type 291 sea-surface search radar

I'm looking forward to your feedback on it!

- Wrong camo for 1943, re-check it
- lack of K-gun (mortar depth charge abaft the aft mast)
- re-check your 20mm oerlikons

Cut him some slack...for a first drawing it's pretty damn excellent. Let's see your first drawing.

Oh, wait...

A very, VERY nice work for a first drawing (leaving aside issues mentioned by Colombamike, as well as some heavy corners here and there, as these are all things that can be quite easily fixed). Keep up the good work.

give Colombamike som slack... he is our reference king, and if he post something that he think need to be fixed/adjusted, to make a good drawing even better. It's better to follow that advice. And Colombomike have always been very direct.

Lack of camouflage was intentional. For my first work, I've tried to recreate best as I could the ship's profile, rather than experiment and fail with painting. But I want to try to make the camouflaged version of it later on.
Can you explain a bit more what's the issue with 20mm guns?
I'll check the K-gun.
Thanks for the feedback! I was counting on someone pointing out some flaws to make my ShipBucket game Steiner for the future entries :)

Cheers
