ace, I agree with you, but most guys who asks for help, already have attempted something, right? Here, I cannot see anything, except a dark spot where the blisters are going. So, yes, absolutely, I just looked at the images of the Craneship no. 1, and it's a difficult ship to draw, especially with the scarcity of sources available, so, if he pulls this off, my hat's off for him in respect and regard!

So, cvbbdd, make an attempt so we migt see your effort! Then we'll gladly help, since it's proving your seriosity about the project.

I came here asking for help on my own ship designs back when I started bezo, and they were bad! he wants to start, he asks for help, and there is no reason to yell at him for this drawing.

how to shade:

take a cup in an dark room, have a light source in one end of the room, and see how the light and shading are on the cup.

Ace, I did the same, and had (mostly) as good experience as you. I only posted a rhetorical question to cvbbdd, that's all I did; yell at him I did not! So, ace, carefully choose your own words. Now, shall we see what this young (?) gentleman actually can do? That's what I'm waiting for...
And Henrik, that was an interesting tip. Is it for real?

yes!

when doing so, you can see how the shade are, but also how much or how little tone (darkness/lightness) it is to the shading.

As for bulges, while not identical, HMS Polyphemos has a similar hull shape to Kearsage at this point in her life.
As I suggested earlier, find a line drawing, blueprint, etc. of the starboard side, scale it, and trace it. Once you have the basic outline, shading will come in, and we'll help you with that, but it's always a good idea to know the basic SB style rules before you begin.
Good luck! :)

Do you have a line drawing of the starboard side?

i have been looking all over for one, but it apparently doesnt exist.
all drawings are of when it was still a battleship

this is what i have put together so far
i know it looks like crap but its hard to do with the limited views of Crane ship No 1
