I am posting this one here because it doesn`t really fit in the other sections.

After watching the new Space Battleship Yamato movie I decided to give her a go.

She is not completely finished, I want to do more based on feedback.

Anyhow, here she is:

the size is incorrect, and Uchuu Senkan Yamato is my project ;) look in the anime ships thread.(viewtopic.php?f=14&t=129&start=40) or is this the life action movie version? it doesn't really look like the anime one, if you want to do that one you may, but the anime version is mine.

This is the movie version. She may be a little too short. I will correct that.

I have made an update to the SBY. The hull, aft nozzle and bow are longer and taller. The superstructure is a little longer and taller.

A side view of the live action movie version. At 534 meters long, she's much bigger than the real world Yamato.

How can she be 534 meters long when she was built inside a 263 meter long wreck? Maybe they scaled her up because she seemed too small, like the 2009 USS Enterprise NCC-1701- Building her in the first place isn`t really possible as the Yamato broke in two. There isn`t anything left of the forward part of the ship. Then again the Space Battleship Yamato was designed in the 70`s, when the wreck of the Yamato was still undiscovered.

English sources says that she`s 265.8 meters long. Japanese sources says that she is 30 meters longer than the original Yamato, putting her at a size of 295.8 meters long. The Japanese sources says that judging by her hangar and fighter complement she has to be between 500-700 meters long.

I think they were trying to be true to the original series while making her size more realistic. The image of Yamato's superstructure rising out of the ground is one of the most iconic images from the series, and was one of the first promotional images released for the live action movie, so they couldn't just ignore it despite it being completely unrealistic with the discovery of the wreck. They seem to change her size frequently from film to film too. Apparently the latest animated movie version is supposed to be much larger than the original series ship, despite the fact that its the same ship!

As I stated earlier, I think the producers thought that the ship looked too small for her role, so they scaled her up. Just like the Enterprise in the 2009 movie. The Enterprise was supposed to be 366 meters long, they thought that she was too small for the environment she operated in, so they scaled her up to 725 meters long. That`s what I think they did to the Yamato in the 2010 movie.
