While I've been away from here, I discovered a program called Google Sketchup, Which I have been playing with for a while. I got the program to draw starships, but recently I've found myself drawing surface warships....I wanted to post some pics of my favorite project thus far here, and maybe I'll turn it into a Tequilapoli ship for my AU.

I call this a Guided Missile Frigate, but it might be kind of a Destroyer type, given the armament...

All of the parts were modelled by me. I wanted the challenge, rather than just downloading them from the Google Sketchup Library.

both are a bit misshaped, to be honest.... (just like my first 3d versions, so that's no problem :P)
if you want parts, just ask, I have some stuff lieing around.....
the ship looks ok, a bit underweaponed maybe, but that is easy to fix.

I still need to add SVTT, CIWS, and Machine Guns for the weapons. I also have to do the underwater hull.

Are your parts in rendered in Sketchup or a compatible format?

I can send them in .3ds format. they are a bit higher poly then your current drawing though :P and if you want the goalkeeper you should ask nickD, I will not spread anything that I haven't drawn myself..... well at least nothing with that much work put into it.

and those things were exactly what I meant, very good! :P

How hard is it to learn to use the program? I've dabbled with similar programs and found them hard to use.

The program that I use in relation to the study and part-time job, is expensive. The program is brilliant but it was hard to learn something I had to do on a course! but I've seen many free programs that like Delftship for example, easy to use, but you have to calculated everything manually. And if I post some 3D drawing on the forum here, it is often with help of Delftship.

I tried google sket ... but I was not happy with how the program performed a number of different tasks that I need!

yea, but the good thing about her is that you have to use your head, rather for asking the program to tell you how good the ship is! She is also quick to use! In relation to the expensive program where you have to tell it everything, but the advantage is that it almost does the work for you. but I do not have access to that program here home :-( so delfthip or the **** copy FreeShip
